Our efforts to build a reactor in Payette County are looking very promising, but we can take nothing for granted. I am asking you to please attend and speak at the Payette County Commission hearing on Monday, Feb. 22 at the Payette High School Auditorium. If you live in or around Payette County, your voice is especially valuable, but the commission will hear from anyone who would like to comment.

There has been well over 80 percent support at public meetings and Planning & Zoning Commissioners supported changing the county’s comprehensive plan by a 9 to 2 vote in our favor. I know it is difficult to get away for many people in the evenings but for these plans to succeed, we need to demonstrate committed support in the community. When people take the time to testify in person, that makes a big impression. For our own part, we have gone door-to-door talking to hundreds of residents and business owners and I have spent most of my last few weeks in front of service clubs, city councils, business groups. All these meetings were met with great success by large groups of supporters wanting to learn more about nuclear power.

You don’t need to worry about making a long speech; even just speaking your mind for 30 seconds will make a difference and really help us. Some topics you can cover include the thousands of jobs we will create as we build our plant; the economic benefits that will come to existing businesses; the opportunities for people who live in Payette County to find more well-paying jobs that cannot be sent overseas; and the importance of having a large supply of low-cost power. Nuclear plants need all kinds of people to work there, from landscapers and food service to mechanics, plumbers, electricians, office workers, engineers and attorneys. We are committed to hiring locally and the jobs pay an average of $80,000 a year. Payette County would have plenty of tax revenue for schools, police, fire and other services.

But, none of this is possible without your support, so if you can, please attend the hearing and sign up to speak. We would love to see all those seats filled with  supporters. If you are on Facebook you can also become a fan and write on our wall, http://facebook.com/AEHIpower and we have over 350 fans. If you are on Twitter you can follow us at http://twitter.com/aehi. Our Web site is www.aehipower.com and you can learn more about our proposal, location, see an informational video, etc.

Please tell your friends and coworkers and I look forward to seeing you at the meeting.

Dear friends of AEHI,

Thank you so much for your support in our attempt to build a nuclear power plant in Payette County.  This is a long process and one in which we need you continuing help.

As you may know Payette County Planning and Zoning recently requested a change to the county’s comprehensive plan, which directly affects our efforts.  That change is now headed to the county commissioners for approval.

The meeting is scheduled Monday February 22nd at 7:00 PM at Payette High School and will be a public hearing.  The address to the school is 1500 6th Avenue South.

Please show your support again by attending the meeting, and by offering your public testimony in person.  Our opponents will definitely be in attendance, so all the support we can muster will be greatly appreciated.

However, if you are unable to attend, you may send written testimony to commissioners. The deadline for emailed testimony is Monday, Feb. 15. You may send the testimony to either lroyston@payettecounty.org or imachuca@payettecounty.org.

The proposed nuclear power plant will bring with it thousands of jobs, increase pay rates for the surrounding work force, improve business for hundreds of local companies, while proving a financially success venture for local investors.

But, none of this is possible without your support, so if you can, please attend the hearing and sign-up to speak, we would love to see all those seats filled with supporters.

Please forward this email to any other AEHI supporters who may also want to get involved.
